INOR : The Many Facets (and Vertices) of Polyoxometalate Chemistry | |||
| Polyoxometalates are inorganic compounds that form between oxygen and certain transition metals, most notably vanadium, molybdenum, and tungsten. Polyoxometalates have large, highly symmetric structures and undergo a wide variety of chemical reactions. In addition to having industrial uses as catalysts, corrosion retardants, and indicators, polyoxometalates are being incorporated into new functional materials and are known to exhibit significant antiviral and antitumoral behavior. The purpose of this session is to communicate recent results in this exciting area of chemistry and to provide networking opportunities for polyoxometalate chemists working in the Great Lakes Region and surrounding areas. Contributions from all areas of polyoxometalate science are warmly welcomed. Professor Walter Klemperer, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, has graciously agreed to give a keynote presentation. | |||
