Laboratory Safety Management in Academia | |||
| Imagine that you are a visitor who walks into one of your laboratories. What would you encounter in your laboratory? Are the students and employees properly attired and wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)? Do you smell chemicals or solvents when you enter the laboratory, indicating that your hoods are not working properly or that your students or employees are working with noxious chemicals on the bench top? Are the laboratories clean? Are the students and employees working with chemicals in a safe manner and following the Chemical Hygiene Plan (CHP) and safety rules? Learn how to perform quick, ongoing assessments of your laboratory safety program and how create a safe and healthy environment for students. This workshop identifies nine critical elements that combine to create an effective lab safety program. | |||
