Colloidal particles find many applications in the formulation of paints, agricultural and home & personal care products, in drug delivery, foods, and as a precursor for advanced nanostructured materials. Preparation and stabilisation of colloidal particles in complex systems is a challenging task. To increase the stability of colloidal particles very often surface active molecules are used to absorb on the particle surface. As being surface active, proteins are another large class of molecules that can provide stabilisation effect in colloidal dispersions. Here we present results on the wet chemistry synthesis and characterisation of colloidal particles from sparingly soluble minerals in the presence of proteins.
