Promoting chemistry across the curriculum by consideration of DOT placards

The signage found on railroad cars and motor carriers can serve as the stepping stone for a cross-disciplinary effort between chemistry and the core topics of the secondary school curriculum. A variation of the old "license plate" game can become a multi-disciplinary learning tool as well as a means to show chemistry moving through a community.
