N-Vinyl pyridinium tetrafluoroborate salts have been demonstrated to be excellent substitutes for vinyl halides in Suzuki cross-coupling reactions. The easily prepared salts are crystalline, air-stable, and non-hygroscopic, and can be stored indefinitely at room temperature. Several examples of their high-yielding reactions with representative aryl- and vinylboronic acids are presented.
