Is the MSDS Monster running loose in your place? If you have to write and distribute MSDSs (Materials Safety Data Sheets), or receive MSDSs from suppliers and have to make copies available to many locations or supply copies to customers, then the MSDS Monster is surely running loose in your place. The MSDS Monster can be tamed by using relational databases for writing MSDS and document imaging for storing thousands of MSDSs.
Chemical manufacturers must write MSDSs and provide them to companies that transport, warehouse, distribute and use their products worldwide. Relational databases take the drudgery out of writing MSDSs. Simply type in the text in data tables and the software generates the finished MSDS.
Copies of MSDSs must be readily available to workers who handle chemicals. Some sites may handle several thousand chemical products. Document imaging can ease the problem of handling large numbers of MSDSs. New or revised versions can be quickly scanned in. Each MSDS is then available for on-screen viewing, printing, faxing or attaching to e-mails. No more endless photocopying. You can be sure your workers are seeing the current version. The cost savings of using a document imaging system are tremendous.
