Development of Photoreactive Organic Molecules with Large Two-Photon Absorption Cross Sections

Two-photon absorption (TPA) induced photodecarbonylation reaction of aromatic cyclopropenones was studied. Compounds 1a-e were synthesized and respective photodecarbonylation quantum yields were determined. Two-photon absorption cross sections (TPACS) of 1a-e were determined using photochemical and z-scan methods. The ultimate goal of the project is the development of photoreactive organic chromophores with large two-photon absorption cross sections.
