An interdisciplinary math and science course with a Hudson River theme was the inspiration for a cluster of courses that were linked using the Science Education for New Civic Engagements and Responsibilities (SENCER) philosophy of engaging students through public issues. Background about the history of these connected courses, from the initial idea for integrated math, science and technology courses to our involvement with SENCER and the selection of courses to link will be presented, along with a description of how each of the courses was run, what activities were used, and how they were related to our theme of the Hudson River. A brief assessment of where we are in this project, what worked, what didn't work and where we will go from here will also be given.
