Microwave assisted organic synthesis lowers reaction times and increases yields. This methodology has been applied to the known synthesis of 9-fluorenone. The oxidation reaction utilizes an environmentally friendly catalyst and the microwave heating technique provides a minimal reaction time. Tested student data will also be discussed.
