I have been teaching for four years in both public (urban) and private school as a high sachool chemistry teacher. I see kids who hate science and those who love it. Teaching high school is a second career for me. I am also an adjunct professor at Sacred Heart University. Prior to teaching, I was working in various capacities (from bench chemist to project manager) off-and-on in science and engineering industries for 10 years. I would like to share my experiences and thoughts about industry and academia (both secondary and university), and hear your questions if you are considering a change in careers. The presentation format will be open so bring your thoughts. Teaching is not for everyone, but it can be just what the doctor ordered if you are finding yourself stale in your present career.
