Organic Chemistry some may say is the most dreaded course. As an organic chemistry professor, I take on the challenge to dispell this myth. Several ask, but why do I need to take this course? Learning how to think an apply what you have learned is my standard answer. I teach organic mechanistically, systematically and mehtodically. Trying to relate real world examples, working in groups, and daily quizzes are some techniques that I use to help students retain the material. I am a firm believer of giving the students a solid background. Making them take the leap of faith and applying the baby basics to other scenarios is more of a challenge. Here I will present my way of teaching, but I am looking forward to the discussion that will ensue in this symposia/workshop.
