Use of Fluorescent Nanoporous Silica Particles in Life Science

Igor Sokolov, Sajo P. Naik, Craig D. Woodworth, and Jason Kaszpurenko. Clarkson University, Potsdam, NY

I will present recent results obtained by my research group in synthesis and use of ultra-bright fluorescent silica particles in life science. Specifically, I will present both “traditional” labeling applications and non-traditional use of such particles, such as the use in skin care products, for non-specific cancer and pre-cancer detection, as various biosensors (by observing changes in fluorescent spectra), even as individual sources of light for bio-imaging.
