A course in nanoscience for non-science majors is being taught in the Chemistry Department at Dickinson College. This course infuses topics in nanoscience into an introductory level course designed to meet the needs of non-science majors by placing those topics at appropriate points in the normal schedule for teaching chemistry content. Although the focus is on nanoscience, many of the elements of an introductory level course need to be taught, making this course a potential model for an introductory – but topical – chemistry course for science majors. Topics covered in the classroom, selected lab activities and a research assignment will be discussed.
