While nanoscience and nanotechnology are of increasing relevance to undergraduate chemistry students, these topics also provide an opportunity to engage non-science majors in an area of emerging science and technology. Towards that end, a course on the science and potential implications of nanotechnology has been developed and taught in the Scientific Perspectives component of Colgate University's Liberal Arts Core Curriculum. The objectives and structure of this course will be described along with a consideration of some of the challenges and successes of this attempt to present emerging science and technology to a fairly broad population of undergraduate students.
