Monoamide derivatives of cross-bridged cyclam: synthesis and complexation

An unusually high yielding monoalkylation of cross-bridged cyclam (1) has been developed in order to produce monoamide 2. Synthetic routes for many mixed pendant-armed derivatives via 2 will be presented. The Cu(II) complexes of some of these ligands have been synthesized and characterized.
