Coexistence of Unusual Thermal Hysteresis and Metamagnet in Quasi-one-dimensional Nickel(III) Chain

Qingjin Meng and Zhaoping Ni. Nanjing University, Ninjing, China

we represent a new quasi-one-dimensional molecular magnet, which shows the rare coexistence of unusual thermal hysteresis and metamagnet. To the best of knowledge, this is the first example of the phase transition with thermal hysteresis from the HT paramagnetic phase to the LT 3D AFM ordering phase. Further investigations of magnetostructural correlations suggest that magnetic interaction is very sensitive to the extent of slippage. However, for the complex the intermolecular C–F...S–Ni contacts effectively damp the slippage of the anion and participate in the contribution to the magnetic phenominaon.
