ACS Regions and their potential to serve the membership of the Society have been receiving increasing attention. A Regional Meeting Study Group, appointed by the ACS Board, concluded that structural changes in the ten ACS Regions and some standardization of protocols could lead to stronger programs, better attended meetings and improved opportunities for outreach activities. Subsequently, a Regional Activities Coordination Team (ReACT) was appointed to help Regions implement the recommendations. The author will review the recommendations of the Study Group, the current actions of ReACT, and the opportunities for ACS Divisions to work with ACS Regions. The initiative of the ACS Division of Chemical Education to fund a Regional High School Teaching Award in each of the ten Regions every year will also be described.
