UGTAs have been a part of the Chemistry Department for several years. This work focuses on a recent effort to create a continuous training program for discussion leaders. The aim is to engage the graduate students and UGTAs in a collaborative learning environment adapting the Peer-Led Team Learning (PLTL) approach to our context. In this presentation, we will describe the selection criteria, training and participation of UGTAs in the freshman general chemistry courses CHEM 107 and CHEM 108 at Binghamton University.
