The preparation of organometallic compounds of the heavier alkaline earth metals has been limited by synthetic challenges related to the large ionic radii of the metals, as well as their high reactivity and limited solubility in common non-protic solvents. We here introduce synthetic routes to a group of silyl substituted amides that exhibit good solubility and thermal stability, with significant promise as CVD precursors. Specifically, we will examine the effect of ligand size on the coordination and solubility properties of the target compounds.
