The PI will be teaching an introductory course for freshmen in the Spring semester of 2007. Apart from covering the fundamentals of nanotechnology, the PI will be speaking primarily about materials synthesis, i.e. applying describing techniques used to create nanoscale building blocks such as nanotubes, nanorods, and nanowires. A special emphasis will be placed on describing the applications of nanochemistry, including as lasers and field emission devices. The most important part of the talk though will focus on risk evaluation of nanochemistry and we will attempt to differentiate between hype and reality with regards to the health risks associated with this field
