Structure-Reactivity Relationships in Lithium Diisopropylamide: Lessons Learned from Solution Kinetics

David B. Collum, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY

A survey of mechanistic studies of lithium diisopropylamide will be presented in three parts. The first portion will provide a survey of the principles of solution kinetics. The second portion will describe insights obtained about the role of solvation and aggregation as determinants of reactivity. The final section summarizes how these principles might be applied to organic synthesis.
