Transition-metal catalyzed reactions of allenes

Kay M. Brummond, University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA

Transition metal-catalyzed reactions are ideal for reagent controlled carbocyclization processes since seemingly small changes in the reaction conditions or catalyst can lead to remarkable changes in the bonds formed and broken during a synthetic event. A strategy for the synthesis of a collection of biologically relevant compounds via new allenic carbocyclization reactions will be presented along with details contributing to the stereo- and regioselectivity and reaction pathway.
