Theoretical and computational study of myosin and RNA polymerase

Hyung-June Woo and Yuemin Liu. University of Nevada, Reno, Reno, NV

Stochastic dynamical models of motor proteins specifically aimed at incorporating structural information from crystallographic structures are considered and applied to myosin and RNA polymerase. The models take as key input parameters the free energy profiles as functions of appropriate order parameters and the rate constants of reactions involved. Molecular dynamics simulations have also been performed aimed at calculating the free energy profiles from experimental crystal structures, yielding information regarding the energetics of conformational and mechanical changes.
