The water-soluble organoruthenium complexes; CpRu(PTA)2Cl, CpRu(PTA)(PPH3)Cl and {Cp(CH2)3}Ru(PTA)2Cl, (PTA = 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane) have been synthesized and characterized via NMR and X-ray crystallography. These complexes have been used to catalyze the transfer hydrogenation of unsaturated carbonyls in aqueous medium. Identification of active species, as well as influence of pH and ancillary ligands on the regioselectivity will be presented.
