Within the past decade, the use of IBX (o-iodoxybenzoic acid) as a reagent has grown dramatically. IBX oxidizes primary and secondary alcohols to aldehydes and ketones1. By the way, IBX has a lot of different application in the organic chemistry area such as oxidation ketones, aldehydes to corresponding α β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds2, oxidation of benzylic position3, oxidation of nitrogen and sulfur compounds4. In this study, we worked five different (cyclohexyl amine, diethyl amine, 2-aminocyclohexanol and 2-aminobenzyl alcohols, aniline) amine compounds within DMSO by using IBX. When we treated cyclohexylamine with IBX, we obtained aromatic compound as N-cyclohexyl aniline. This compound confirmed with IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, DEPT and GC-MS. The aromatization reaction is very important method for synthetic chemistry field. According to this result, IBX can be used as an aromatizing reagent for some cyclic amines.
