An overview of the synthesis and characterization of carbon nanofiber/carbon paper and carbon nanofiber/carbon felt materials will be presented. The discovery process by which carbothermal reduction can be used to effectively "spot weld" carbon nanofibers to carbon supports will be emphasized. Materials properties of these carbon nanofiber/carbon composites will be discussed as time permits.
