Determination of heavy metals in seafood, soil and sediments in southwest louisiana

A study of heavy metals in seafood, in particular crabs and alligators, and soil and sediments in various locations in Southwest Louisiana were undertaken. A description of the sampling strategy and procedure, sample preparation and subsequent determination by inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry will be described. Results obtained before Hurricane Rita, Sepember 23, 2005 and after Hurricane Rita, Summer 2006, will be presented and a comparison shown.
