This lecture will focus on the chemistry of cationic boranes whose anion affinity is increased by Coulombic and/or cooperative effects.  In addition to describing the synthesis and properties of these novel main group cations, we will also demonstrate their use for the complexation of fluoride and cyanide anions in water near the maximum contaminant level.
