79 Cationic Boranes Decorated by Transition Metal Moieties - Synthesis, Structure and Anion Sensing

Recently, our group has investigated the use of cationic ammonium and phosphonium triarylboranes for the complexation of small anions including fluoride and cyanide.  When compared to neutral boranes, these cationic derivatives exhibit an increased affinity for anions because of favorable Coulombic effects.  In an extension of this work, we will now describe a series of cationic transition metal complexes featuring a triarylborane moiety tethered to one of the ligands.
