The interest in the synthesis of main group-transition metal heterobimetallic complexes has led to important findings in inorganic chemistry. Herein, we wish to present our results concerning the reactivity of Ir, Ru and Re organophosphine complexes towards GaR3. Remarkably, reaction of iridium hydrides with GaMe3 led to the isolation of a gallylene species Ir-GaMe2 as the product of Ga-C oxidative addition to iridium.  Spectroscopic and theoretical evidence will be presented. The chemical reactivity of these species towards small molecules will also be evidenced.As expected, the choice of transition metal precursor allows for variations in the nature of the new products found.
