The layered double hydroxides (LDH) due to their characteristics are used widely as supports of catalysts and like adsorbent in processes of ionic interchange. On the basis of its structure, the interlaminar anion can be interchanged by many others in organic or in the inorganic medium. Using these properties, in this work the fluoride removal will study in both, inorganic and organic mediums. Because in the region (Guanajuato, Aguascalientes, San Luis Potosí and Zacatecas) high fluoride concentrations in water sources have been detected causing serious human disease. Here we have synthesized by hydrolysis route, adsorbent with precursors of low cost (technical grade) as MgSO4 and Al2(SO4)3, but equal of effective for the fluoride removal to the obtained from other routes and sources. The characterization of solids was made by means of x-ray Diffraction (XRD), infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), Thermal analysis (TGA/DTA) and the specific surface area (SBET). The SBET results are between 200-300 m2/g very similar to which have been obtained by other routes. The FT-IR of the LDH shows the characteristic bands of interlaminar water and carbonate ions, typical of the LDH structure. The TGA/DTA analysis has confirmed the temperatures in which the material is disturbed or if it undergoes structural changes. By XRD we have detected the signals also typical of the LDH materials.
