7 Catalytic Splitting of Water Using a Ruthenium (II) Complex

It has been reported that the Prussian Blue-tris (2,2' bipyridine) ruthenium(II) complex will split water into hydrogen and oxygen upon photolysis with visible light. An apparatus was developed to determine if hydrogen was produced. This work attempts to verify the report and to measure the quantum yield of gas production.
