Dodecamethyl-cyclohexasilane has been long known and studies on its electrochemistry and photochemistry have been published. We have commenced a study of the use of acetylenic linkages between such cyclosilanes with an aim at both modifying the chemistry of the cyclic silane and investigating the capacity of the acetylenic bridge to transmit various electronic properties between the rings. We report a series of new compounds involving undecamethyl-cyclohexasilanes, UNMcHSI,: e.g. UNMcHSI-C2-UNMcHSI; UNMcHSI-C2-H; UNMcHSI-C2-C6H5 etc. Full synthetic and spectrosocpic details and structural data will be presented along with prelminary electro- and photo-chemical properties of the new systems.
